Sight words, also often referred to as high-frequency visual words, are widely used words that young children are encouraged to memorize as a whole by sight so that they can easily identify certain words in print without needing to use any decoding techniques.
 
The benefit for children to be able to understand visual words immediately is that they would be able to identify the main reader.
